ATHENS, OH - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team traveled to Ohio University on Sunday (May 11) in their final road match of the spring. The Bearcats defeated the Bobcats by a 1-0 margin in a match that was fairly one-sided.
The lone UC goal came in the 33rd minute when Logan Ballinger (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) side volleyed a shot from Kristin May (Hudson, OH/Walsh Jesuit) in the box that found the back of the net.
Cincinnati outshot the Bobcats 17-1, while holding the advantage in corner kicks by an 8-1 margin.
Goalkeepers Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) and Brittney Hansen (Toledo, OH/St. Ursula Academy) each saw time in the shutout victory.
Head coach Michelle Salmon on the Bearcats spring thus far, "As we close out the spring season, we are playing some of our best soccer to date. We had outstanding performances on both the offensive and defensive ends against a very good Ohio University team."
Cincinnati closes out its spring schedule on Saturday, May 17 when they welcome back former student -athletes for the Alumni game set for a 1 p.m. start.
"As we prepare to welcome our Alumni back to campus on May 17th, we will finish out the spring with another strong performance," said Salmon. "We look forward to the fall season and our pursuit of a BIG EAST Championship."
