Women's Soccer Falls At #17 Illinois In Exhibition

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team lost, 1-0, in its only preseason game of the 2009 season at No. 17 Illinois on Friday afternoon. The match was played in three, 30-minute periods and Illinois forward Christina Sahly scored the game's lone goal in the 68th minute.  

For the game, Illinois out-shot Cincinnati eight to seven, while the Bearcats owned a commanding seven to two advantage on corner kicks. Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville), Rachel Barnette (Peachtree, Ga./McIntosh), and Ashley Daniels (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) each played 30 minutes in goal for UC with Barnette and Daniels each recording one save.  Kendall Loggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville), Emily Hebbeler (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy), and Melissa Bigg (Limehouse, Ont./Acton) led UC with two shots each.

Cincinnati will begin regular-season play on Friday, Aug. 21, at Kentucky in a 7 p.m. match.
