MORGANTOWN, WV - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against No. 22 West Virginia on Sunday (Oct. 7) afternoon at Dick Dlesk Stadium. The Bearcats fell to 4-7-1 overall and 1-4-0 in conference play, while the Mountaineers, the 2006 BIG EAST American Division champs, improved to 8-3-1 and stayed unbeaten at 4-0-1 in the league.
West Virginia controlled the action all afternoon, outshooting the Bearcats, 25-2, and earning nine corner kicks to UC's two.
Deana Everrett scored scored her sixth goal of the season in the 56th minute and Ashley Banks added her seventh goal five minutes later to push WVU's unbeaten streak to four straight (3-0-1).
Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) made six saves in goal for the Bearcats.
UC returns to the friendly confines of Gettler Stadium next weekend to open a four-match homestand against Seton Hall. The Bearcats and Pirates kick off at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12.
