CINCINNATI - Alli Donofrio scored twice to lead Seton Hall to a 2-1 win against the University of Cincinnati in women's soccer action on Friday night (Oct. 12) at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats (4-8-1, 1-5-0) scored in the first minute of action, but the Pirates (7-4-2, 3-2-1) answered and earned the road victory.
Kristin May (Hudson, OH/Walsh Jesuit) tallied her first goal of the season just 0:59 seconds into the match on a feed from Jenn Johannigman (Cincinnati, OH/Seton). May slipped a right-footed shot past SHU keeper Amanda Becker to the far post for the 1-0 lead.
Seton Hall knotted the match in the 29th minute on Donofrio's fourth goal of the season as she found herself all alone in the box, beating Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) and drawing the Pirates even.
UC was dangerous early in the second half and appeared to take the lead in the 56th minute when Lindsey Noteboom (Hurst, TX/Birdville) settled a pass in the box and volleyed a shot past Becker. Noteboom was called for a high kick while settling the ball and the goal was washed away.
Seton Hall took over from there and Donofrio netted the game winner in the 70th minute on a feed from Madeline Kill.
Kaminski made five saves in goal, while her counterpart, Becker, made four.
The Bearcats are next in action when they take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.
