Cincinnati Announces Seven-Match Spring Schedule

Jan. 11, 2014

The University of Cincinnati women's soccer program announced its schedule for the 2014 spring season on Saturday. The Bearcats' spring slate will encompass seven matches, including four that will be played at Gettler Stadium.

UC opens the spring season on Mar. 8 on the road against Marshall. They then host Northern Kentucky for their first home match of the season on Mar. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The Bearcats head to Purdue on Mar. 29 for a doubleheader against the Boilermakers and Loyola-Chicago before returning to Gettler Stadium for their final three matches of the spring season. Opponents for those games will be Dayton (Apr. 2), Woodbridge 98 (Apr. 5) and Miami (Apr. 9).

The game on Apr. 5 against Woodbridge 98, which is one of Ontario's top youth clubs, will also be Alumni Weekend. The following day, the Bearcats will face UC alums at Gettler Stadium.

In head coach Neil Stafford's first season at the helm, the Bearcats finished the year with an 8-11-1 overall record and 4-4-1 in league play. This season marked only the fourth time in the last 10 seasons that UC accumulated eight or more wins and only the second time in 10 years that they had four or more conference wins. Cincinnati, who was picked to finish ninth in the AAC, surprised the league by finishing sixth, despite being tied for third entering their final conference match.
