2012 Signing Day Central

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team signed seven student-athletes to its 2012 recruiting class, head coach Michelle Salmon announced Wednesday.

"Today's class marks a great deal of diligence and hard work amongst our staff," Salmon said. "I cannot be more thankful to my staff who have helped our program gather one of the strongest classes in UC history."

The incoming freshman class will add depth throughout the roster as the group includes three defenders, two forwards, one midfielder and a goalkeeper.

"This class provides talent in every position and with the additions of this group of student-athletes as well as the returning players I know we are poised for a great 2012 campaign," said Salmon.

Three incoming Bearcats hale from Cincinnati; goalkeeper Natalie Smith, defender Sally Beiting and forward Laura Rose.

"When you look at the additions of Natalie Smith and Laura Rose, as well as Sally Beiting, you can continue to see our commitment to keeping the best talent in Cincinnati here at UC," Salmon added.

In addition the Cincinnati trio, four 2012 are from the Southern California/Arizona region. Salmon believes the national recruitment is a reflection of her coaching staff's efforts and speaks well about the attractiveness of Cincinnati.

"On a more of a national stage, the University of Cincinnati is a tremendous academic institution, which helps us attract student-athletes from across the country," said Salmon. "As a staff we have spent countless hours recruiting across the country to find players that not only match the character of our program, but can also excel in the classroom.  With the additions of Callie Taylor, Kayla Karlsson and Kelly Latimer from California and Sydney Tomlinson from Arizona we have not only added tremendous soccer players, we have also added great students to our university."
