Huntington, West Virginia---Tianna Oliver (Los Angeles, Calif./Immaculate Heart) and Amy Mink (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) each scored goals as the University of Cincinnati women?s soccer team won for the fifth time this spring, knocking off Marshall, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The match was the spring finale for the Bearcats, who end the campaign with a 5-0-1 record.
Oliver got the scoring started with her third goal of the spring in the first half. Heather Herweh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) served a free kick into the box, where Oliver converted to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Mink got into the scoring act with her second marker of the spring. Jill Firman (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and Lisa Stephens (Union, Mo./Union) set up the play, before Mink ripped a ball past the Marshall keeper for the final tally of the match.
?It?s tough to play two games in three days and I don?t think we were as sharp because of that,? said Bearcat head coach Meridy Glenn. ?This spring we wanted to work on several different themes, including developing leadership and I think we saw many instances of that. We were able to get some things sorted out this spring and overall we as coaches are very happy.?
