CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati football and men and women's basketball teams will be appearing at the Kings Island amusement park near Mason, Ohio next Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19, to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
The men and women's basketball teams will be appearing on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m.-Noon followed by the football team on Sunday, Aug. 19 from 1-3 p.m. The teams will be located throughout the park so check for specific locations once you arrive at Kings Island.
The men's and women's soccer teams will appear on Monday, Aug. 20 from noon-3 p.m. The teams will parade down main street and head coaches Hylton Dayes and Meridy Glenn will speak to the crowd. Following the parade, the Bearcats will be stationed near the entrance to the park, greeting fans as they enter, signing autographs and posing for pictures.
Head coach Brian Kelly and the football team will be taking a break from the rigors of preseason training camp to make its appearance. The football team opens up the 2007 season at home on Thursday, Aug. 30 versus Southeast Missouri State at 7 p.m. Kelly, who took over the head coaching position at UC last December, led the Bearcats to a 27-24 win over Western Michigan in his debut at the inaugural International Bowl in Toronto, Canada.
Second-year men's basketball coach Mick Cronin aims to climb the ladder in the BIG EAST Conference by combining experience with one of the nation's top recruiting classes. J. Kelley Hall, who took over the reigns of the women's program in April, looks to bring his winning brand of basketball to Clifton after leading Louisiana-Lafayette to NCAA Tournament last year.
The men's soccer team opens its regular season on Aug. 31 at 2006 NCAA qualifier Loyola (Ill.), while the women open the schedule against crosstown rival Xavier at Gettler Stadium the same night.
