Meridy Glenn has built the University of Cincinnati into one of the nation's elite women's soccer programs, and in so doing, established herself as one of the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA women's soccer history.

Glenn, who just finished her 24th campaign at UC, has directed the Bearcats to a 249-174-34 record. She is the second-winningest female coach in NCAA women's soccer history. Her 249 victories is 13th in NCAA women's soccer history. Glenn has guided the Bearcats to six NCAA tournament appearances, four in the past 12 seasons, and has garnered five league championships over that span. During the 2001 season, Glenn became just the ninth Division I women's coach and first female to reach the 200 victory plateau.

Seven of Glenn's teams have been ranked in the final National Soccer College Coaches of America (NSCAA) Top 20, including the 2001 squad which ended the year ranked No. 15. Her coaching has helped produce five All-Americans and 25 all-region selections.

Her student-athletes have also excelled in the classroom. Eight Bearcats earned NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-America honors, while nine have won the prestigious Helen Norman Smith Award, given annually to the top graduating Cincinnati female student-athlete. Defender Kristina Wilson was named a third-team Scholar All-American in 2002 and was awarded a Conference USA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2004, while goalkeeper Christy Hoffman earned the program's first-ever CoSIDA Academic All-America award in 2001. Rachel Lieberman and Kristina Wilson were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 2004. The Bearcats earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for a team GPA over 3.0 in 2001, 2002 and 2005.

Glenn made an immediate impact upon her arrival as head coach in 1983, directing the Bearcats to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. Her squad posted a 12-2-3 record and featured a nine-game unbeaten streak. Glenn followed that with an appearance in the 1986 NCAA tournament. The Bearcats were led by Barb Volker, who still ranks second on the UC all-time scoring list, and All-Americans Leslie Roberto and Julie Krauser. For her work, Glenn was named NSCAA regional coach of the year.

In 1994, Glenn directed a squad dominated by underclassmen to 15 wins, a Great Midwest Conference championship and an NCAATtournament berth. For her efforts, Glenn was tabbed Ohio Coach of the Year.

The following year, Glenn guided UC to the C-USA regular season crown. In 1997, Glenn piloted the Bearcats to a 16-5-3 mark, earning a share of the regular season C-USA crown and capturing the tournament title. The Bearcats won the NCAA play-in game and advanced into the NCAA Tournament.

Glenn's 2000 team tied the then-school record for wins with its 16-6 mark and reached their fourth C- USA Tournament final, dropping a double overtime decision to nationally-ranked Marquette.

Glenn earned C-USA Coach of the Year honors in 2001 after a 20-4 season which saw the Bearcats win both league titles and advance to the College Cup Sweet 16. The Bearcats upset No. 7 Notre Dame in the second round, ending the Irish's 39-match home unbeaten streak.

The 2002 team finished with a 17-4-3 mark, capped by a second-consecutive trip to the NCAA College Cup, where the Bearcats advanced to the second round. Along the way, Glenn guided UC to its second consecutive C-USA tournament championship.

The Barrington, R.I., native came to UC after a successful playing career at Brown University. She led the Bears to a 39-11-3 record and two Ivy League runner-up finishes. She graduated in 1980 with a degree in biology and received her MBA in operations management from UC in 1997.

Glenn chairs the NSCAA Division I Women's all-American committee. A member of the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America, Glenn holds a U.S. Soccer Federation "A" coaching license and served a four-year term as a member of the prestigious NCAA Women's Soccer Committee. She also served on the Junior Olympic Development Region II staff. In 1992, she was the recipient of the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Officials Association Coaches' Distinguished Merit Award. Glenn also participated in the NSCAA International Coaching Course in 1996 and the NACWAA/HERS Athletic Administration Institute in 2000-01. In March 2002, Glenn was honored as a Leading Woman in Cincinnati in the category of sports. She participated in the NSCAA International Coaches Symposium in Portugal, concurrent with the Algarve Cup in the spring of 2007. In 2003 she earned her NSCAA Premier Coaching License.

Glenn launched her coaching career at Arlington (Mass.) High School in 1980. She returned to Brown to serve as assistant women's soccer coach for two years before coming to UC.

She is married to Keith Glenn. The couple has a daughter, Tegan, 12, and son, Tavis, 9.
