Bearcats Add Ohio Ranking to Week of Honors

The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team is ranked second in the state of Ohio in the latest poll released by Ohio Soccer News. The Bearcats trail only Miami, who handed UC a 1-0 defeat on Sept. 17. The RedHawks received five first place votes and earned 105 points, while UC notched four first place tallies and 102 points.
In addition, senior forward Ann Thomas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) has been named to the Soccerbuzz.com Elite Team of the Week for the week ending Sept. 23.
As a team, the Bearcats are ranked No. 7 in the Great Lakes Region, according to Soccer Buzz?s latest rankings.
Thomas? mention on the team of the week comes on the heels of her second career Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week award. She received the honors after tallying three goals and an assist in conference wins over Southern Miss and South Florida.
The Bearcats move into the top ten for the first time this season after receiving votes in the previous regional rankings . They trail Indiana, who handed UC it?s first defeat of the year on Aug. 31. C-USA foe Marquette is ranked No. 4 in the poll, with Notre Dame holding down the top spot.
Thomas and the Bearcats (5-2, 2-0 C-USA) return to action this weekend with two conference road matches. UC will face UAB on Friday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. ET before battling Memphis on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. ET.
