CINCINNATI, Ohio - University of Cincinnati defender Heather Herweh (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Ursiline) earned a spot on both Soccer America's National Team of the Week and Soccer Buzz Magazine's National Elite Team of the Week for her work in UC's two shutout victories last weekend.
Herweh helped the Bearcats limit opponents to eight shots in the two games. UC defeated TCU, 3-0, on Friday before shutting out Houston, 1-0, on Sunday. Herweh scored the Bearcats' only goal in the victory over the Cougars.
"She has been playing outstanding, so its great for her to be recognized nationally," said head coach Meridy Glenn. "We feel she is an awesome Cincinnati product and has been leading us in the back."
The senior becomes the first Bearcat named to the national team of the week since Ann Thomas received the honor for the week ending Nov. 10, 2001.
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 when Bowling Green visits Meyers Field. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
