PROVIDENCE, RI -- University of Cincinnati women's soccer freshman Kendall Loggins (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal at Pittsburgh on Oct. 5, leading the Bearcats to their first conference win of 2007.
Loggins, a midfielder, has started 11 matches this season and ranks third on the team with three goals and nine points. She scored the game winner against Pittsburgh last Friday with 0:56 left in the second overtime, securing the 2-1 win and the first conference victory of the season.
The BIG EAST honor is just the second for the Bearcats women's program since entering the league in 2005. Last season, then-freshman Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) was named the Goalkeeper of the Week after posting a shutout against Kentucky in her first collegiate match. In 2005, then-freshman Jenn Johannigman (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and junior Heather Haney earned spots on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Loggins and the Bearcats will welcome a pair of BIG EAST foes to Gettler Stadium this weekend. Seton Hall pays a visit on Friday, Oct. 12 for a 7 p.m. start and UC takes on Rutgers on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.
