MacDonald Earns All-BIG EAST Honors|

MORGANTOWN, WV-- The University of Cincinnati's Erin MacDonald (St. Catharine's, Ontario/West Park Secondary) has been named to the 2007 All-BIG EAST Women's Soccer Second Team. The sophomore forward led the Bearcats (6-10-2) in goals, assists and points this season.
A two-year starter, MacDonald finished fifth in the BIG EAST with 21 points. Her seven goals ranked fifth and her seven assists were sixth int he conference. Named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Oct. 22, MacDonald led the Bearcats to an undefeated weekend in conference play. She scored three goals in two matches, including the game-winner against USF and the equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Marquette. She was also named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for her efforts.
MacDonald was an all-Ohio selection in 2006 after scoring three goals as a freshman. She is the first UC women's soccer player to earn all-BIG EAST honors since the Bearcats joined the elite conference in 2005.
West Virginia's Ashley Banks and Notre Dame's Brittany Bock were named the Co-Offensive Players of the Year. Georgetown's Dave Nolan was named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year, while freshman midfielder Ingrid Wells was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year. UConn senior Meghan Schnur was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, while junior teammate Brittany Taylor was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. Villanova senior Jillian Loyden was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year.
The announcement came at the annual awards banquet held the night before the semifinal games of the BIG EAST Championship. This year's Championship is being held Nov. 9 and 11 at Dick Dlesk Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va., with all three games televised nationally on CSTV. In addition, the title game also will be broadcast on numerous local regional sports networks.
