Tennis Falls at Kentucky|

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision against No. 43 University of Kentucky Saturday afternoon at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center in Lexington.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead early following a sweep of the doubles matches. Senior Caitlin O'Gara (Springboro, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) and sophomore Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) fell to CeCe Witten and Kelsey Dieters 6-1, the number 56th ranked doubles tandem in the ITA rankings. Senior Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and freshman Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) dropped a 6-2 decision to Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff and Aldila Sutjiadi on court No. 2. Senior Sierra Sullivan (Austin, Texas/The Khabele School) and freshman Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathon Dayton) were downed by the duo of Caitlin McGraw and Kirsten Lewis 6-1.
In singles action, Kentucky took all six points from the Bearcats. On court No. 4 Taylor Lederman bested Bure 6-0, 6-0 to give the Wildcats their second point of the day. Morin-Kougoucheff topped O'Gara by a score of 6-2, 6-1 on court No. 3 to give Kentucky their third point. Poggensee-Wei battled in the first set, but eventually fell to Sutjiadi 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the match for UK.
Witte fell to Dieters in the second position 6-2, 6-4, while Stephanie Fox took down sophomore Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Central) 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 6. While all other matches were completed, all of the attention turned to court No. 5 where Bellinger lost a heart breaker. She won the first set 6-4 and was up 3-1 in the second set before McGraw came back to win 7-5. McGraw also took the super tie-breaker 10-7 to win the match.
The Bearcats fall to 1-1 to open the season. Cincinnati returns home on Saturday, Jan. 25 to host No. 42 Indiana at 3:30 p.m. at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club.
