CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision against Memphis on Friday evening at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
The Tigers took the doubles point, sweeping the matches by scores of 8-6, 8-1 and 8-2.
Carly Wilson fell to Memphis' Andrea Arquez-Garcia in the first set 7-5 but battled back with a 6-2 victory in set two to force a third set. In this tiebreaking set, Arquez-Garcia got an early lead and never looked back, securing a match victory with a 10-5 decision.
Sierra Sullivan also came up short in tiebreaking sets. After an early lead in set one, UM's Kelly Gray battled back to even it up before taking the tiebreaking point 9-7 and a 7-6 set victory. Gray came through again in set two, winning the tiebreaking point 7-3 and picking up another 7-6 set victory.
Jasmine Lee fell to Mariya Slupska 6-0, 6-1 with Kristina Georgieva dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Stefanie Mikesz.
Safiyya Ismail dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Alyssa Hibberd while Ashleigh Witte fell 6-2, 6-2 to UM's Courtney Collins.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. when they travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats.
