TOLEDO, Ohio- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team dropped the first match of a three-match road trip as it was defeated by Toledo, 5-2, today.
The Rockets took two of the first three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. For the Bearcats (1-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) the combination of Abby Mayo and Ksenia Slynko were victorious, 8-0, in the third doubles match, marking the second match in a row that the duo has won in doubles play.
Slynko continued her impressive singles play this season, winning the No. 3 singles flight in two sets, 6-3, 6-3. The victory for Slynko gives her four wins on the year, the most of any Bearcat. The sophomore has now recorded 18 career wins in singles play.
Freshman Elise Woulfe appears to be finding her niche at UC, as she recorded her second consecutive victory, winning the No. 5 singles flight in two sets, 6-0, 6-2.
The Bearcats travel to Eastern Michigan tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 p.m. They conclude the road trip Sunday, Feb. 13 at 4:00 when they battle Detroit.
