Bearcats Stumble Against Marquette|

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – The University of Cincinnati women’s tennis team started their final road trip of the season with a 7-0 loss to Marquette Friday afternoon.
The Bearcats picked up their only win of the afternoon in doubles action when Caitlin O’Gara (Springboro, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) and Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) topped Laia Hernandez Soler and Ali Dawson 8-4. Marquette picked up wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
O’Gara and Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) each forced a third set from their opponent but were unable to come up with a win in the tiebreaker. O’Gara fell by scores of 6-0, 6-7 and 1-0 while Bellinger suffered a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 loss. Poggensee-Wei also battled in a close match but fell by scores of 7-5 and 7-6.
The Bearcats will continue the final road trip of the season when they face DePaul Sunday, April 13. Match time is set for a 1 p.m. start.
