Jan. 25, 2014

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women’s tennis will welcome No. 40 Indiana on Saturday, January 24, at 3:30 p.m. at Western Tennis & Fitness Center.

The Bearcats enter the contest with a 1-1 record. UC defeated in-state foe Toledo before suffering a loss to Kentucky last weekend. Against Toledo, Cincinnati opened the match with wins in two out of three doubles matches. During singles play, sophomore Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North), senior Caitlin O’Gara (Springsboro, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick), and senior Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) each picked up wins to give UC the 4-3 over the Rockets.

Indiana will be opening up their season on the road in Cincinnati, facing Xavier at 11 a.m. before making the short trip to Western Tennis & Fitness Club. The Hoosiers are coming off an NCAA Regional birth where they were defeated by Vanderbilt.

The Bearcats will look to avenge their 7-0 loss last season to the Hoosiers.
