CINCINNATI – Senior Jasmine Lee (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) of the University of Cincinnati women’s tennis team has been named the BIG EAST women’s tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Tues., March 5. Lee led the Bearcats to a 6-1 win over Butler University on Feb. 27.
Lee paced Cincinnati, playing at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles. The senior clinched the match for the Bearcats, beating Stephanie McLoughlin 6-3, 6-2 in singles action, and teamed with Caitlin O’Gara to claim an 8-4 win over Caroline Hedrick and Brittany Farmer in doubles.
The singles win was the fourth of the year and the second consecutive for Lee. She and O’Gara have won three of their last four matches, with the other being an unfinished match against Rutgers. She has also led the Bearcats to two consecutive victories against Dayton and Butler.
Lee is the second Bearcat to be named BIG EAST Player of the Week this season. O’Gara took home the honor on Feb. 19.
UC will be back in action on Sat., March 9 when it hosts the University of Louisville at 5 p.m. at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
