CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team will travel to Toledo, Ohio on Sunday, March 11 for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Toledo Rockets.
The Bearcats will try to get back to their winning ways after their three-match winning streak was snapped on Wednesday afternoon with a loss to the NCAA Division II No. 11 team California (Pa.).
The match was littered with competitive action from both sides, with four of the six singles matches going to a tiebreaking third set. Both Jasmine Lee and Ashleigh Witte came away victorious in three sets, while Safiyya Ismail and Kristina Georgieva each came up short in their tiebreaking third sets.
Ashleigh Witte upped her season singles play record to 7-6, with four of the wins coming in her last four matches. Her singles record has risen to above .500 for the first time this season and she maintains her standing as the team leader in singles victories.
Jasmine Lee improved her season singles play record to 6-7. Lee too has won her last four singles play matches and five out of her last six.
Toledo (4-6) enters play with a 4-6 overall record. The Rockets are riding a two-match winning streak with consecutive wins over Nova Southeastern and Grand Valley State. UT was led in its 6-1 victory against GVSU by Kelsey Anonsen. The senior secured a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the No. 1 singles position.
The match against Toledo is the first in a three-match road swing for the Bearcats. Cincinnati (4-9) will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. on March 30 to face Marquette and will round out the road swing with a trip to Chicago, Ill. to battle DePaul.
