Tennis Seeded Ninth for BIG EAST Championship|

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s tennis team earned a nine seed for the BIG EAST Championship which is set to begin on Thurs., April 18 in Tampa Fla., at the USF Varsity Courts on the USF campus. The Bearcats will play No. 8 seed Marquette at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The Bearcats, who are seeded ninth for the fourth straight season, will face No. 8 seed Marquette in the opening round Thursday. UC lost to MU 4-3 in the regular-season finale at Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center on April 14. All three doubles teams won their matches while senior Jasmine Lee (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) and junior Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) each earned singles victories in the loss. The two teams battled for four hours and 50 minutes before the match was decided.
Cincinnati completed a 10-10 record this season, including a 2-5 record in BIG EAST play. The team turned in six consecutive victories spanning from March 21-April 7, including wins over conference foe Pittsburgh and crosstown rival Xavier.
Notre Dame earned the No. 1 overall seed in the championship, which will see all 15 teams compete.
