Bearcats Earn No. 4 Seed at American Championships
April 18, 2017

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The brackets for the 2017 American Athletic Conferene Tennis Championships have been finalized and and the University of Cincinnati women's tennis team has been award the No. 4 seed and a bye into the quarterfinals and will face No. 5 seed Memphis on Thursday, April 20 at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT.

The Bearcats finished the regular season with a 4-1 record in American Conferene play, with their only loss coming against nationally-ranked and No. 2 seed SMU. Cincinnati added a pair of crucial conference wins during the final weekend of the regular season, defeating UConn 4-2 and East Carolina 4-0.

A win on Thursday would pit the Bearcats against the winner of the Tulsa vs. UCF/Houston quarterfinal match. UCF and Houston will play on Wednesday, April 19 at 12 p.m. and the winner of that contest will face No. 1 seed Tulsa during the same time as the Bearcats' match against Memphis.

// COACH TOTH ON THE BEARCATS
"Our team is very excited about the upcoming week," stated head coach Eric Toth. I think it is advantageous for us and Memphis to not play until Thursday. It gives us an extra day to acclimate ourselves to the conditions and the facility and get an extra practice day in. In order to advance we will have to be the team we have been the last month, really the whole season. We will expect the toughest challenge from a very well-coached, talented Memphis team."
