Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Honors|

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati tennis team earned a pair of honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Friday.
The Bearcats earned the ITA All-Academic Team Award and had four student-athletes, Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome), Caitlin O'Gara (Springboro, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick), Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) and Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Central) recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). UC achieved a 3.556 team GPA during the fall 2013 semester and a 3.584 mark during the winter of 2014.
Individually, in order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
Wille led the way, earning a 4.0 GPA in her pre-med major. Bellinger (3.667), O'Gara (3.564) and Poggensee-Wei (3.733) are all business majors.
All members of the 2014 All-Academic Teams and ITA Scholar-Athletes receive a certificate to recognize the achievement.
