Tennis Impressive at First Outing|

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team wrapped up day one of the Ohio State Muirfield Collegiate Tennis Invitational with one doubles team advancing to the second round and three moving on to the second round in singles.
The UC duo of senior Safiyya Ismail and junior Jasmine Lee defeated the Ohio State pair of Tiffany Dittmer and Kelsey Becker 8-6 after a battle of a match. The other Cincinnati doubles team of sophomore Ashleigh Witte and Sierra Sullivan fought hard but fell to Eastern Michigan's pair of Miriam Westerink and Nino Mebuke 8-1.
The second round of the singles round will feature three UC players. Witte defeated Ksenia Bereststetska of Akron 6-3, 3-6, 1-0. Ismail beat Claire McNulty of Dayton 6-4, 6-3 while Lee took her first round match from Ankita Bhatia of Eastern Michigan 4-6, 6-0, 1-0.
Play continues with doubles at 9 a.m. Saturday and singles following. The Buckeyes are hosting the tournament, held at the Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.
