CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati tennis team traveled to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete at the USTA/ITA Regional Tennis Championship Oct. 18-21 on the campus of Purdue University. Senior Jasmine Lee (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) and junior Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) will represent the Bearcats at the tournament.
Witte will compete in the women’s qualifying singles bracket and will face Claire Mulyadi of Chattanooga at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. Should she advance through two rounds of the qualifying bracket, Witte will proceed into the main draw bracket of the championship.
Lee will begin play on Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. when she faces the No. 8 qualifier from the qualifying draw.
A total of 18 teams will be participating in the USTA/ITA Regional Championship, including Ball State, Butler, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, ETSU, IUPUI, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, MTSU Miami (Ohio), Purdue, Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wright State and Xavier. 96 individuals will be competing in the singles competition while 48 doubles teams will participate.
The USTA/ITA Regional Championship is the final tournament of the fall season for the Bearcats. Cincinnati will open its spring schedule on Jan. 19 when it hosts Indiana.
