Harpenau Named Local College Volleyball Sportswoman Of The Year|

CINCINNATI – Senior Missy Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) has been selected as a finalist for Overall College Sportswoman of the Year by the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Women’s Sports Association. The organization recognizes female collegiate athletes that have made significant contributions to women’s athletics in the Tri-State area.
The outside hitter capped off her career by being named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-America honorable mention team. In her senior year, Harpenau was First-Team all-BIG EAST and BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She finished third in the BIG EAST in service aces per set (0.39), sixth in points per set (4.17) and sixth in kills per set (3.50).
The Bearcats ended the season 27-10, winning the first BIG EAST Tournament title in UC history. UC has won 20 or more matches in 16 of the last 17 seasons.
Hapenau, Track and Field student-athlete Jasmine Cotten, and Women’s Track and Field Head Coach Susan Seaton will be honored on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Savannah Center, 5533 Chappell Crossing Boulevard, West Chester Township, Ohio. The dinner and awards ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.
