CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team is in preparation for its Molly Alvey Volleyball Camps that will be held this summer. The two team camps and six individual camps will take place in either June or July on the campus of the University of Cincinnati.
Registration for all camps is now open at http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/w-volley/w-volleycamps.html.
Current Cincinnati volleyball coaches and players will serve as the instructors of the camps and will help to teach proper technique and important skills for the game.
“Our camps are already taking off this summer with registrations” said head coach Molly Alvey. “We are happy to see so many familiar names returning and are more than excited to have all of the new registrations. My staff and I are ready to work hard and have fun again this summer. Our camps are the best way to get an up-close and personal view of the Bearcats Volleyball program.”
The Team Camp, which will be held July 11-13, is designed to prepare each team for the upcoming season by providing ample time for practice and competition.
The Team Shootout will take place on July 27 and is the ultimate tune up for the upcoming high school season. Teams will compete in a variety of skill training sessions, competitive wash drills and the team shootout tournament.
UC will also host individual camps, including the Elite Skills Camp (July 8-10) and the One-Day Elite Skills Camp (July 14), for high school aged participants with an intermediate to high volleyball skill set. The camps are formatted to push and instruct the individual player with advanced techniques and training to help polish their skill set. The camps are encouraged for athletes with a strong volleyball background who are looking to get a pre-college volleyball experience.
The team will also host two sessions of the Bearcat Youth Skills Camp (June 12-14 and July 15-17) and one session of the Lil’ Bearcats Junior Skills Camp (July 15-17). The Bearcat Youth Skills Camps is open to all participants in grades 6-8 who wish to get detailed technical instruction in all areas of the game. All skill levels from beginner to intermediate are invited to attend. The Lil’ Bearcats Junior Skills Camps are for players in grades K-5 who are in the early stages of their game. The half-day camp will stress learning each volleyball skill through fun-filled activities.
For those participants interested in honing their skill sets for a particular position, the team will also conduct Bearcat Specialty Sessions on July 15, 16 and 17. The camps will focus on setters/middle hitters, outside hitters/right-side hitters, and liberos.
Additional information on each camp session can be found online, including camp brochures, registration forms and waivers and releases.
