CINCINNATI – Head Coach Molly Alvey and the University of Cincinnati volleyball team have announced the addition of Samantha Schrenker to the 2013 roster. Schrenker, a freshman from Elmhurst, Ill., has signed a letter of intent and will be available to play this fall. She joins a five-player signing 2013 signing class that includes Breanna Barksdale, Mallory Blauser, Kristin Conor, Shelby Green and Ciara Hill.

High School: Four-year letterwinner … finished 2011 as both conference and section champions … named All-West Suburban Conference and Dupage County All-Area Honorable Mention in 2011 … made the 2011 AVCA Best State Seniors list and the Class of 2012 Senior Aces list honorable mention … conference champions in 2010 and finished as the fourth place team in the state of Illinois … was a two-time mention on the AVCA Under Armour Girls High School All-America Watch Llist (2011-12) … was a 16 Club National Champion in 2010 … finished 2012 with 171 blocks … finished 2011 with 165 blocks and 134 kills.
Personal: Born February 4, 1994 … daughter of Eric and Jacqueline Schrenker … has two brothers Greg and Ben … majoring in information technology.
Coach Alvey on Schrenker: We are definitely surprised to find Sam so late in the game, but excited to have her join our team. She brings a sense of maturity and an understanding of what it takes to compete at this level of volleyball and adds a new dimension to our very young team. She is more than happy and excited to be a Bearcat and join us in a few weeks for our preseason training camp.
