Bearcats Selected to Finish Third in the BIG EAST

Aug. 15, 2011

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team has been chosen to finish third in the BIG EAST Conference by a vote of the league's coaches. The Bearcats, who captured the 2010 regular season title, earned three first-place votes.

Louisville took the top spot with 11 first-place votes and Notre Dame was second with one first-place vote. Marquette, Villanova, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, USF, Syracuse, St. John's, Connecticut, West Virginia, Georgetown, Rutgers, and DePaul close out the poll.

The votes were cast by the league's 15 head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own teams.

Junior middle blocker Jordanne Scott was named to the all-BIG EAST Preseason Team. Scott was a 2010 AVCA All-American and a first-team all-BIG EAST performer.

"It's a new season with new faces and we're ready for the challenge," said head coach Reed Sunahara. "Hopefully we can finish on top, but it's going to be a long road to get there. If we continue to do things right and work hard, I like our chances."
