BOWLING GREEN, Ky. ? The University of Cincinnati volleyball team lost to Western Kentucky, 3-0, Tuesday night in the Preston Center. The Bearcats (2-4) fell to the Hilltoppers (9-1) by scores of 30-21, 30-27, 30-27.
In game one, the Bearcats hit .321 with 12 kills and only three errors, but WKU was even better, blasting 25 kills against just five errors for a .500 hitting percentage. UC recovered for a more even second game, hitting .243 and reducing WKU to .256 hitting, but the Hilltoppers prevailed. WKU outkilled UC 19 to 16 in the third game to take its home opener.
Julie DuPont led the Bearcats in kills, as she has in every match this year, with 13 to go with five digs and five blocks. Trish Ladusaw recorded 10 kills and a match-high nine digs while Rachel Torblaa added six kills and seven blocks.
Cynda Derbort led WKU?s effort with 17 kills and five blocks and Amanda Schiff added 26 kills. Sara Noe had 50 assists and eight digs.
The Bearcats return to action this weekend at the Wright State Raider Challenge, facing Central Michigan on Fri., Sept. 13 at 4:30 pm and taking on Austin Peay and Wright State on Sat., Sept. 14.
