MacIntyre Earns BIG EAST Honor|
Sept. 24, 2012
CINCINNATI - Junior Emily MacIntyre has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after helping her team to a 1-1 week with a win over DePaul on Sept. 23 at Fifth Third Arena. This is the first weekly honor for the Bearcats this season.
The defensive specialist recorded 62 digs in the two matches, including 34 in a 3-2 loss against Notre Dame. She also had 28 digs in the win over DePaul, to give her an impressive 6.89 digs/set ratio for the weekend.
MacIntyre has made a huge impression on the volleyball record book during her third season at Cincinnati, currently ranking second in program history with a 3.99 career digs/set clip. She also is climbing the career digs list, ranking seventh with 1,241 total digs. The junior, who recorded her 1,000th career dig during the first match of the 2012 season, is only 59 away from moving into sixth on the list.
In addition to the career lists, MacIntyre is also affecting the individual match record books, having set a school record with 38 digs in a 3-1 loss to No. 23 Illinois on Sept. 15. Her record was set in four games, while the previous record (37 by Jaime Frey in 2007) was in five games.
MacIntyre and the rest of the Bearcats will be back in action on Sept. 28 when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers at 7 p.m
