CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team returns to Fifth Third Arena after two weeks on the road for two conference matchups. The Bearcats will face SMU at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 and will host the University of Houston at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.

The Bearcats are into the second leg of play in the American Athletic Conference. UC has faced all nine opposing teams and will conclude the home-and-away series with all teams to close out the season.

The match on Friday will be the opening of a double-header with the University of Cincinnati men's basketball team which will play in Fifth Third Arena at 8 p.m. Admission to the volleyball match is free with a men's basketball ticket.

Following the match against Houston on Sunday, the team will conduct a youth post-match clinic. The team and coaches will instruct participants on basic volleyball skills and technique. Children of all skill levels ages 13 and under are welcome. Participants should wear tennis shoes and athletic clothing.


  1. Breanna Barksdale currently ranks ninth in conference play with a .298 hitting percentage. The freshman has hit above .400 in three of the last four matches, including a .481 clip against Temple on Nov. 3. The mark is the highest on the team for any player with at least 10 attempts this season. Barksdale also is the only under-classmen among the top-10 hitting percentage in the AAC.
  2. Freshman Kristin Conor ranks seventh among American Athletic Conference players with 8.03 assists per set in conference play. She is the only freshman listed among the top-10 in the AAC.
  3.  Freshman Shelby Green sits in eighth for service aces in conference play with 0.30 per set.
  4. The Bearcats and the SMU Mustangs have matched up only once in program history, a SMU victory earlier this season (Oct. 6) in Dallas, Texas.
  5. Cincinnati holds a slim 7-6 lead in the overall series with Houston. The Cougars won the matchup earlier this season by a score of 3-0 in Houston on Oct. 4.
