Bowser, Muldrow Sign Volleyball Letters of Intent

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team announced the signing of two players who will be added to the 2014-15 roster. Cortnee Bowser and Maya Muldrow both signed national letters of intent on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and will join the team as true freshmen next fall.

Cortnee Bowser

MB | 6-4 | Kent, Ohio | Theodore Roosevelt High School

High School: Named Portage Trail Conference (PTC) Player of the Year (2013) … Baberton/Mayfield Tournament MVP (2013) … third team All-State (2013) … first team All-District (2013) … AAU and National All-America selection (2012) … three-time national runner-up (2010, 2012, 2013) … four-time PTC champion … two-time sectional champion (2011, 2013) … district runner-up (2013) … broke the school’s season and career block records her senior year … finished her career with 657 kills and 170 blocks.

Personal: Born May 3, 1996 … daughter of Tim and Teri Bowser … has two sisters, Miranda and Samantha, and one brother, Seth … plans to major in chemistry.

Coach Alvey on Bowser: Cortnee brings our program great physical size at the net from both a blocking and attacking perspective. She is coming to UC from one of the top volleyball club teams in the country which made it to the championship match of both the Junior National Championships and AAU National Championships last summer. Her high-level understanding of the game will be a great asset for us going into next season and she is an intense competitor. We are very excited to have her as a Bearcat and are expecting great things from Cortnee early on in her career.


Maya Muldrow

High School: Three-year letterwinner and starter … North Carolina 4A state champion (2013) … N.C. 4A Eastern regional champion (2013) … Cap-8 Conference champion (2013) … three-year All-Cap-8 Conference first team selection (2011, 2012, 2013) … named to the AVCA Under Armour Girls High School All-America Watch List (2013) … News and Observer All-Metro team member (2013) … winner of the NCHSAA 4A Volleyball Sportsmanship award (2013) … two-time team co-captain (2012, 2013) … team MVP (2012) … named Academic All-Cap-8 (2011) … led the Cap-8 in blocks per set (2012, 2013) … led the Cap-8 and N.C. 4A division in hitting percentage (2013) … finished her senior year with 263 kills (2.8 kills/set), 131 total blocks, 52 solo blocks and a .529 hitting percentage.

Personal: Born May 19, 1996 … daughter of Sabrina Muldrow and Daniel Muldrow … has one brother, Noah … undecided on an academic major.

Coach Alvey on Muldrow: Maya is a phenomenal athlete. She jumps out of the gym and is extremely fast laterally pin to pin. She just helped lead her high school team to their first-ever North Carolina High School State Championship title. Our program is going to win championships so Maya’s experience this fall and her club season have her prepared to come in and immediately make an impact in our gym. She always has a smile on her face and we are so happy to bring her upbeat personality and athleticism into our program.
