CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will host its final two matches of the 2013 season this weekend with two conference opponents. Rutgers University will face off against the Bearcats at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov., 27 while the University of Connecticut will travel to Fifth Third Arena for a match at noon on Friday, Nov. 29.

Cincinnati will honor one senior on Wednesday evening during the senior day festivities. Emmi MacIntyre, who had to sit out the 2013 season due to injury, will leave the UC volleyball program as one of the most decorated players in its history.

Wednesday’s match also will be a designated drop off for the Freestore Foodbank. UC will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items for the local organization which distribute the items to families in need during the holidays. Any fan who donates an item will receive a voucher for free tickets to any upcoming UC women’s basketball game.

Also to note is a time change from the original schedule for Friday’s match against UConn. The time was originally slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff but has been moved up to a noon start to accommodate the UC men’s basketball game later in the afternoon.

  1. Senior Emmi MacIntyre will finish her career ranked third with 1,607 career digs and second with a 4.24 career digs/set ratio. In 2012 she broke the school record with 38 digs in one match and holds four of the top-ten places on the match-high list. MacIntyre also ranks second and fourth in the digs/season record book with 614 as a junior in 2012 and 560 as a sophomore in 2011. Her 5.12 digs/set in 2012 rank her second on the list while her mark of 4.15 digs/set in 2011 is good for seventh.
  2. Freshman Kristin Conor and junior Madi Lang both rank among the top-ten in the league for assists per game. Conor is eighth with 6.23 while Lang is 10th with a 5.01 mark.
  3. Freshman Shelby Green sits in third place with 0.33 service aces per match in conference play. In a win against USF on Nov. 15, Green set a Bearcats season high with six aces. She also is the only freshman to appear on the list.
  4. Freshman Breanna Barksdale ranks 10th in the league with a .305 hitting percentage in conference matches. In a win over USF on Nov. 15, Barksdale hit 14 kills for a .591 hitting percentage. The mark is the highest of the season for a UC player when recording at least 10 kills.
  5. The Bearcats will look to sweep the Scarlet Knights on Wednesday after earning their first win of the season in Piscataway, N.J.  on Oct. 27. UC beat RU 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-12). Overall, Cincinnati leads the series 11-3.
  6. Cincinnati narrowly loss to the Huskies on Oct. 25 in Storrs, Conn., by a score of 3-2 (25-27, 18-25, 25-23, 25-16, 15-13). It was only the second series win for UConn as the Bearcats hold a 9-2 margin overall.
