SAN ANTONIO, Texas - University of Cincinnati volleyball standouts Missy Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) and Jordanne Scott (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-America honorable mention team on Wednesday (Dec. 14).
Harpenau, an outside hitter, was named to the all-BIG EAST first team following her senior campaign. She finished third in the BIG EAST in service aces per set (0.39), sixth in points per set (4.17) and sixth in kills per set (3.50). Harpenau was named the BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Performer after recording 39 kills and 35 digs in leading the Bearcats to the first BIG EAST Tournament title in school history.
Scott, who was a unanimous first-team all-BIG EAST selection, finished fifth in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.318), seventh in kills per set (3.45) and fifth in points per set (4.18). This is the second straight AVCA all-America honorable mention honor for the junior middle blocker.
Since 2003, the Bearcats earned 11 AVCA all-America honors.
The Bearcats finished the season 27-10 and made the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season, advancing to the second round for the third time in the last four years. UC has won 20 or more matches in 16 of the last 17 seasons.
