Men's Soccer Update (Jan. 30)

Men's soccer head coach Hylton Dayes and all-conference selections John Manga and Vebjorn Krovel provide an update on 2015 training.

2014: Named to American Athletic Conference All-Rookie team ... Started 17 of 18 matches during his first season ... Played 1,544 minutes ... Took five shots on the year ... Helped the defense record four clean sheets on the year.

Prior to UC: Product of Aalesund Videregaaende Skole in Aalesund, Norway ... played for Aalesund FK, one of the top academy teams in Norway, before playing for Skarbovik IF in the second division of Norwegian soccer this past season ... with Aalesund, helped both the under-16 and under-19 teams to league championships ... served as team captain and earned most improved player honors on the U-19 squad.

Personal: Born April 21, 1994, in Aalesund, Norway ... son of Steinar Krovel and Nina Johansen ... father, Steinar, played soccer on the second-highest level in Norway ... has two sisters, Kaja and Lisa.

Dayes on Krovel: "Vebjorn is a top class central defender. He has all the attributes we were looking for in a central defender: excellent speed and athleticism, good size, ability to win balls in the air, good 1v1 defending skills and is also a very good passer. He is currently playing at a high level in Norway and should have no problem in transitioning to the college game."
