The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics welcomed over 200 youth cheerleaders and dancers and over 800 parents and coaches to its third annual Cheer & Dance Team Day for basketball this past Saturday, February 15th at Fifth Third Arena. Cheerleaders and dancers, ages 4 – 18, from across the Cincinnati area, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and even Alabama performed with the UC cheerleaders and dancers during halftime of the basketball game against Houston.
The day started off with a two hour clinic in the Armory Fieldhouse where the participants practiced the halftime routine they were required to learn prior to the event. The cheerleaders and dancers were separated into three age groups where they reviewed the routine and were lined up for the performance. Parents, coaches, cheerleaders and dancers all enjoyed the atmosphere of the day and were excited to be part of such a fun event.
“Thank you to the UC Cheer and Dance teams for a fabulous day Saturday! The cheerleaders and dancers were extremely nice and took time to answer questions, pose for pictures and even showed us their World ring,” said Lebanon Warriors Youth Football League Cheer Coach Tyna Rehberg.
“Each Cheer and Dance Team Day participant was such joy to watch,” said Director of Marketing, Jaime Juenger. “It was awesome to see over 200 girls cover the entire basketball court performing with our spirit squads. It was such a fun day for everyone!”
