The University Of Cincinnati Department Of Athletics is pleased to announce promotional activities in coordination with National Girls & Sports Day on Saturday, January 25. The event is in conjunction with the Cincinnati women's basketball game against UCF at 2 p.m.
National Girls & Sports Day is celebrated annually around the country to commemorate the achievements of girls and women in athletics. The initiative also aims to promote the continued expansion of opportunities for girls and women to play sports and live physically active lives. The Department of Athletics partnered with UC's College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Resources (CECH) to sponsor up to 350 girls in grades 5-8 to attend this year's event free of charge. The complimentary package includes an educational program from 12:30-1:15 p.m. in the Lindner Center Auditorium with female guest speakers in sports related fields, activities on the concourse and a gift bag including metallic pom-pom shakers, lip balm, a snack, and a ticket to the women's basketball game against UCF that day.
"We are really excited about this year's National Girls & Sports Day," stated Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and coordinator of the event, Leslie Wenert. "We want to thank CECH for sponsoring this great event and we look forward to the opportunity to educate 5th-8th grade girls about potential degrees and career opportunities in athletics and have a great time in the process."
The women's basketball game between Cincinnati and UCF is designated as the Ring of Red game, which encourages all fans in attendance to wear red. The first 500 fans will also receive a red rally towel upon entrance of the game.
The east concourse entrance will open at 1:00 p.m. and will have many activities for fans of all ages to enjoy, including cornhole, inflatable games, putt putt golf, dribbling contests, face painting, sign making, autographs by female student athletes (excluding women's basketball) and sports medicine taping demonstrations.
Space for the event is limited. To secure your spot register by January 21 to Leslie Wenert (email@example.com). For questions, call 513-556-0838.
Additional tickets for the game are $5 adult, $3 youth (12 & under) and groups of ten or more are $1 each. UC Students are free with a student ID. Call 1-877-CATS-TIX to order.
