CINCINNATI – Bianca Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh) was named American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week and Dayeesha Hollins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) was named to the conference’s Honor Roll as announced by the league Monday.
Quisenberry is the first Bearcat to earn Rookie of the Week honors since Kayla Cook (Webster, Ohio/Webster) garnered BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors March 1, 2011. Quisenberry averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7.5 assists during a 2-0 week as the Bearcats picked up wins over Morehead State (75-44) and Youngstown State (83-62).
During the win over Youngstown State, Quisenberry finished just shy of a triple-double, recording 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. The true-freshman pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds during the win over Morehead State while also adding seven points and four assists. The 5-8 guard totaled 13 assists while turning the ball over just four times during the week.
Hollins earned her first Honor Roll accolade of the season and the six of her career after averaging a team-high 18 points this week. The senior also averaged four rebounds and 4.5 assists and two steals. Hollins’ key performance this week came during the win over Morehead State as she poured in a season-high 24 points.
Hollins leads the team in scoring this season at 12.6 points per game while Quisenberry now paces 5.6 points. Quisenberry is second on the team in rebounding (6.8) and leads the squad in assists (2.9).
