CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team wrapped up two rounds of the Web.com Invitational in 19th place on Mon., April 8 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Bearcats recorded a total of 616 strokes (305-311) during the first day of competition.
Junior Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) led Cincinnati with a six-over-par 150 (73-77) on day one. Senior Maria Roos (Uppsala, Sweden/Mississippi State) and sophomore Mackenzie Moir (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) each tied for 76th place with 156 strokes. Roos hit 80-76 during the two days while Moir recorded 78-78. Senior Alex Carl (Union, Ky./Notre Dame Adacemy) and freshman Stefanie Mitchell (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) each hit 158 strokes to tie for 87th with scores of 78-80 and 76-82, respectively. Mitchell's 76 strokes in the opening round tied her career-low which she set in the second round of the UC Spring Invitational on March 24.
Three teams ranked in the GolfWeek national rankings sit atop the leaderboard with No. 14 Purdue holding a five-stroke advantage at five under par with a 574 (290-284). No. 28 Iowa State is even at par with 579 strokes (289-290) and No. 17 Texas Tech is in third with 580 strokes (293-287). Three other ranked teams are in the competitive field as No. 47 Florida State, No. 41 UCF and No. 44 East Carolina are ranked seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. A total of 20 teams are competing in the Marsh Landing Invitational.
Individually, Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez holds the lead with 139 strokes (69-70) for five under par.
The Bearcats will finish the Web.com Invitational with 18 holes on Tuesday afternoon. This is the final competition for Cincinnati before it competes at the BIG EAST Championship April 21-23.
