Women's Golf Takes Fourth at IU Kickoff|

CINCINNATI – Led by a first-round team score of 298, the University of Cincinnati women’s golf team finished fourth out of seven teams at the IU Kickoff hosted by Indiana University Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats completed a pair of 18-hole rounds on Sunday, firing off a 298 during the first round before capping the day with a 307 in the second round. UC finished just eight and five strokes out of second and third place respectively in the final standings.
Louisville took home team champion honors with identical rounds of 285, cruising to a 27-stroke win. Indiana (296-301=597) was second followed by Xavier (300-300=600), Cincinnati (298-307=605) and Indiana State (307-311=618) to round out the top five.
Four out of five UC golfers shot their best round of the day during the first 18 holes. Stephanie Mitchell (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview High School) led the way for the Bearcats Sunday with rounds of 72 and 78 for a 150 total that placed her 13th among the field of 67. Olivia Dose (74-79=153), Mackenzie Moir (75-78=153), Andrea Malek (77-77=154) and Ashley Cassidy (81-74=155) completed Cincinnati’s scoring team.
Mitchell’s first round score of 72 was the lowest for any Bearcat Sunday and placed her sixth in the standings after 18 holes. Cassidy was the only UC golfer to improve during the second round, knocking seven strokes off her first-round score.
Individual medalist honors went to Laura Restrepo of Louisville who shot rounds of 70 and 69 for an 18-hole total of 139.
The Bearcats will be back in action Monday, September 16 during the first day of the 2013 Cardinal Cup hosted by Louisville.
