CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team capped off 36 holes of action over the last two days with a seventh place finish at the Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville in Simpsonville, Ky.
The Bearcats slipped two places from Monday to finish seventh among the field of 13 teams. UC shot 312 during the final 18 holes after firing rounds of 303 and 299 on the first day.
Louisville (283-284-292=859) was the overall champion, winning by 22 strokes over second place Kansas (295-286-300=881). Louisville’s B Team (295-289-309=893) was third followed by Chattanooga (301-293-307=901) and Middle Tennessee (302-301-302=905) to round out the top five teams. Murray State (303-300-304=907) clipped Cincinnati (303-299-312=914) by seven strokes to account for sixth and seventh place respectively.
Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) continued her pace from Monday, finishing Monday with a round of 74. The senior picked up birdies on both the fourth and 17th hole during the final day. Dose recorded 11 birdies overall during the event, including one on the 527-yard fourth hole during each round.
Mackenzie Moir (75-74-81=230) and Andrea Malek (78-75-77=230) each tied for 29th. Stefanie Mitchell (77-79-80=236) and Ashley Cassidy (83-84-86=253) rounded out UC’s scoring team. Malek recorded seven birdies during the event while Moir finished with six.
Laura Restrepo (67-70-75=212) of Louisville took home individual medalist honors by one stroke over teammate Emily Haas (66-75-72=213) and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn (72-68-73=213) of Kansas.
UC will be back in action at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational hosted by Mississippi State. The event runs from Monday, September 30 –Wednesday, October 2.
