Women's Tennis Falls at No. 65 Louisville|

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s tennis team surrendered a 7-0 decision against No. 65 University of Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals took the doubles point to get out to an early 1-0 lead after wins in two of the three matches. Elle Stokes and Becky Bodine took down senior Sierra Sullivan (Austin, Texas/The Khabele School) and freshman Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathon Dayton) 8-3. The tandem of Rebecca Shine an Manuela Velasquez defeated UC’s duo of sophomore Kelly Pogensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) and senior Caitlin O’Gara (Springboro, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) 8-5 on court No. 1. Senior Ashleigh Witte (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and freshman Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) picked up their second straight doubles win when they fended off Julia Fellerhoff and Olivia Boesing 8-6.
In singles play, Louisville took all six points from the Bearcats. On court No. 5, Bellinger fell to Elle Stokes 6-0, 6-0. U of L took a 4-0 lead after Shine defeated O’Gara 6-0, 6-1 in the second position and Bure was beat by Velasquez 6-1, 6-0 on court No. 4.
Sophomore Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Cenral) was downed by Bodine 6-1, 6-0. On court No. 3 Witte was winning in the first set before eventually dropping 6-4. The senior lost the second set 6-2. To close out singles play, Kelly Pogenssee-Wei fell in a tough match against Fellerhoff. The sophomore battled in the first set before suffering a 7-5 loss and falling 6-1 in the second. The Cardinals improve to 4-2 on the season while the Bearcats fall to 1-5.
Cincinnati will try to regain their winning ways on Fri., February 14, where they will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to face Butler University. Double action will begin at 3 p.m.
